Well of course. But it was big for a movie. LOVE IT! Take note Stampede, we want big explosions!

To date, the movie that holds the record for the biggest on set explosion is 'Blown Away' starring Jeff Bridges and Tommy Lee Jones. The end of the film features a massive blast that destroys a derelict ship/ hideout. Check it out...it's a real jaw dropper.

Alderaan was big, true...but that was a special visual effect. The Blown Away fireball was a real explosion and on a scale of 1 to 10, I'd say it was a 15. Whoa, Mama! 8)

How about Fifth Element? I know they had a REAL nice explosion in the scene at the spaceport.

Ahhh, good old explosions... Whenever there's a monster in your town, take comfort in knowing that you can dispose of it by blowing it up. Hehehe, explosions are fun!
