Tremors Menu

Postby Action_Burt » Thu Jan 28, 2010 10:35 am

So you are a diehard Tremors fan and want to eat what they eat in the episodes. What did they eat...?

I remember in Episode 1, Tyler asks about MREs but Burt has to respond that hsi food budget is thin, and produces some cactus and tobasco sauce. I think I'd have to pass on that- I'm a meat and potatos man. Green stuff is not allowed on my plate.

In Episode 3/Blast from the Past, Burt and Tyler are trying to lure Messerschmidt in with "MREs" on a hot plate. I'd swear they were nothing more than giant Rice Krispies snacks. And why would you heat an MRE, out of the bag, on a hotplate anyway?

Later in the episode, there's all that fancy French-recipe meals- like a big fat, juicy steak. I may break out the grill on the weekend and enjoy a good steak or three while watching that episode, but it's not feasible to replicate that meal for guests...

I have a memory of someone eating at the counter in Jodi's market, but I can't recall who it was, or what they were eating.

Episode 7/Night of the Shriekers features the government soldier, Hartung, eating pistachios... not a big fan of those, but I suppose I could set some out for the guests....

Isn't there a scene in Episode 4/Hit and Run, Kinney (Michael Rooker) is eating at the Casino?

All I can think of for now.. .but surely other food was consumed, on camera

There was the pot luck scene in Ghost Dance. And in the sound of silence Twitchell is eating a popsicle, and Jodi comes out with cheesburgers. Oh, and Twitchell's apple in Ghost Dance, though he didn't eat that, the "ghost" did. Also, A Little Paranoia Among Friends has multiple scenes taking place in a restuarant.

MRE's basically look like rice krispies anyway. You get basic nutrition, not a feats for the eyes. You heat an MRE, right out of the bag, on a hot plate, to attrract an ABlaster, what with their being heat hunters and all.

MREs?

Postby Action_Burt » Fri Jan 29, 2010 1:10 pm

Okay, most of the MREs I ate were back in the 90s. But around the time the series was made, I did eat a few (got them for my daughter as a novelty).

Nothing in them looks like rice crispies.

When I was in germany, there were these awesome freeze-dried squares of mixed fruit. Looked and sounded like styrofoam, but man did I love them.

I call foul on the production team for that episode.
